100 Details in 100 Days: Day 24

A word about embroidery thread...

One of my favorite threads for surface embroidery is DMC Coton a Broder, Broder Special, No. 25. The name is not particularly descriptive, since it just translates to Special Embroidery Cotton! This particular thread is used a lot when embroidering household linens or clothing, because it has lovely sheen and holds up well to laundering. Some vendors sell this as Brilliant Cutwork and Embroidery Thread. It is a 4 ply, non-divisible 100% cotton embroidery thread available in a variety of sizes from 16 to 30, with 25 being the most common. There are also more colors available in size 25 than any of the other sizes. Sadly, this product enjoys wider distribution and use in the European and Australasian markers.
