18 WPI = Lace Weight?

I spun about half of this mystery fiber from my trade. I got a lot done at work during lunch and on break. Here it is on the spindle:

Here is it plied on my Rapunzel Spindle from SimpleMarketFarms.com:

The Rapunzel has a wraps per inch (wpi) mark on the shaft. This wool came out to about 18 WPI, which my handy-dandy card says is Lace Weight yarn.

Oh and I came across this site "Monster Crochet" and discovered that I am a Hillbully Knitter, because I crochet. What a scream! I do think it has a wonderful ring to it. LOL

Very pretty color. What type of fiber is it? I have what is called a wraps per inch knit-kard that came with my wraps per inch tool kit and it has lace weight being 35 wpi and up. I have some alpaca that I spun on my wheel that ranges from 27 to 30 wpi and it took me forever to fill a bobbin, so much so that I have not even attempted to spin the second bobbin so that I can ply it.

That makes sense...it feels more like sport weight to me. LOL I have no idea what kind of wool it is, but it has a real long staple.
